Though it doesn't matter a whole lot; the HCG-520/620 are about the same as the TruePower New 550/650 minus the few modular cables.

HCG-750 is weaker than the TP-750; but not by much. It's still a good unit.

I mean to put it in basic terms, a TP-750 is a 9.5/10 in terms of performance. A HCG-750 is 9/10 in terms of performance.

Not a major difference.
It makes sense to scrap one since they're basically competing with each other, but I wish they'd done something like renaming the TP-550/650/750 rather than replacing them with slightly inferior products. You're right, it's not a huge deal, but it is a bit disappointing when a great product like the TruePower New series vanishes for no good reason. I guess it's more expensive to produce than the HCG series.

I can't give hard numbers, but just based purely on topology & design; it most likely is more expensive to produce.

TruePower New cannot be cheap to produce for a few basic reasons as well;
1.) Modular = royalty costs from patent + extra parts & manufacturing required
2.) Custom design (though it is a hybrid of two Seasonic platforms, its PCB and such are different enough that it would require it's own assembly line.)
3.) component quality.

On the third category I'm not saying HCG is inferior in that regard, just that the TPN components are HIGHLY over-spec'd.

HGG-400/520/620 are all based on the S12II Bronze Platform. Which; besides the casing is the same as existing Antec units (NeoECO C models) and and current units for sale from Seasonic. Thus easy to make.

The only thing that doesn't make a lot of sense is that the HCG 750 & 900w units are based on the same design; but from Delta which may make them equal to, or a bit higher price to produce then the TruePower New 750w.

Though, like I said I can't give hard numbers; though there are some easy ways to ascertain cost of production.

However as I pointed out in my review they still do a whole lot to keep the design cheap to manufacture while still being high quality, with a high component density, and many parts are ones that SeaSonic will already have in great numbers, such as the VRM daughterboard.

Yeah, but it still undoubtedly costs more to make than the a stock unit that's already in production.
