n00b - System Advice

Hello all! Really looking forward to officially being an OCnet member... lurked for a long time.

My 1st question is a basic review of my system... is it up to par.

More specifically I've been glancing at the new 6970 from AMD. Currently I have 2 5870's which work great. But for future proofing / current performance - do you think it would be worth switching out to the 6000 series? Or for that matter: Nvidia? I'm also interested in 3D, I know Nvidia has this down but AMD just released drivers for 5xxx and 6xxx - anyone have experience with this?

Thanks!

For now, i wouldn't switch to the 6000 series yet, your 5870 is a pretty high end card and in crossfire can blow any single card out of the water.

Your setup looks just fine. maybe a new cpu cooler, but other then that you look good.

Appreciate everyone's input... tend to agree. And yes, the xfire'd 5870's crush games. My processor could be better - and through these forums I hope to learn more on overclocking. But even as it stands, I can pull Crysis Very High w/ AA at a smooth 40fps avg. Metro 2033 with EVERY option on (including DX11 advanced and even Physx) at 80fps. There's not a single game I can't max out - except GTA IV, which is just a bad port.

Interesting that a new CPU cooler is recommended. If anyone is still checking this - what would you recommend? I've heard good things about the Cooler Master V8...
