so i just got bc2...

I so i just bought bc2 and i have two problems lol.
first off, in beta and in a retail version bootleg i was testing, i was able to edit settings ini to let me run in 640x480 which was how i could play a usable frame rates. now i bought bc2 on steam and when i go to the settings ini and adjust the resolution, it starts in 640x480 and then 2-5 seconds after being in main menu it switches to 1024x768. there HAS to be a way around this! ((((

the other problem is, i clicked play now a couple times, everytime it sends me to empty servers. and in the server browser there is no servers...
whats going on?

edit: maybe its because i didnt delete mydocuments/bf2bc2 from the old bootleg, before i installed steam version?

might have to change the browser filter so that it finds games with people?
not sure about the other problem.

Its quite possible that 1024 x 768 is the minimum resolution.
BC2 is a very resource intensive game, if you plan on playing it or most other games upgrading your computer rather than fiddling with settings would be wise.
Especially because it was only playable at 640 x 480.

1- They made 1024 the lowest resolution.

2- Play Now doesn't work most of the time, so you gotta use the server browser.

well since it's a legit version and it's steam. most likely its auto updating, so it doesnt want you to run at non standard resolution.

never use the "play now function" it has the worst server finding algorithm.

on the server browser screen, PRESS SEARCH to find servers and your list should populate.

but i was able to run it in 800x and 640x in beta AND retail non steam....
i remember there was a custom steam startup command i used for half life 2 to alter a certain setting that wasnt in the menu,,,,, perhaps there is a way around this in bc2?

Ok, poor phrasing.
Its not VERY resource intensive overall, but its still pretty demanding.

you need to click "search" it never puts you in a full game. you need to go on server browser, put in your own reigon and click search.
