[CNBC] AMD CEO Dirk Meyer Resigns, Surprising Investors - Page 10

You speak as if he had a choice. CEOs live and die by the votes of their board. They fired him and allowed him to save face by resigning. And the dip in stock prices is only temporary. Short term trading analysis is for sensationalists who need a story. Stocks are long term assets and should be analyzed accordingly.

AMD's price will go back up as soon as they name a permanent replacement, if not sooner.

You don't have enough information to even guess what's best for his financial position. Some companies base stock options on the lowest price for the quarter, so having a large dip actually helps. I don't know AMD's policy, but employee options aren't the same as what you and I buy. The strike price isn't always predetermined.

Dirk Meyer's departure has nothing to do with BD nor any desktop platform... you guys have to look at the overall picture and corporate roadmap.

I agree. Meyers came in and rode the heels of AMD 64 too long and choked his R&D with mindless BS. For the short term, I dont see AMD overtaking Intel, but BD will give it a run for shares in the market. Now the new CEO needs to crack the whip and put AMD out there and make it a more attractive platform source.

Fixed

Dirk came in after Core 2 kicked around Athlon 64 and Phenom I
Before then, Hector Ruiz was CEO.

Here's to hoping everyone that's investing in AMD stock actually makes money once Bulldozer is released. It'd be a real shame to see it fail =(
