Sure it was only ONE game that was like Battlefield but I remember on the forums. People loved it. It was really a step forward. I bought COD2 thinking it would be an improvement of an improvement. Seriously disappointing. Only reason why there was even a single vehicle in W@W was because some of the crew in Trayarch were from Grey Matter which made UO.

Your also forgetting that if you compare COD2 gun mechanics to W@W gun mechanics. They are completely different. They are both WWII games with WWII guns, yet in W@W they completely eliminated any recoil just like ever COD since MW1. Instead of good old bolt action iron sight combat we had basically a re-skin of MW1.

MW1 W@W Equivalent
Red Dot = Aperture Sight

ACOG = Scope

Flashbang = Flare

Stun Grenade = Tabun Gas

Sticky Nade = Semtex

Silencer = Silencer

etc...

Downright stupid, unrealistic crap that doesn't even exist. They couldn't have the console kiddies play true WWII games, that just wouldn't appeal to the masses. So they had to make it like some sort of James Bond game with all sorts of Gadgets. I already seen this happen to BC2 when they copied the COD Perk system.

wow.

i am so very tired of people talking so much crap about bc2, and/or how they copied crap from cod etc.

no they didnt.

BC2 didnt noobify the classes down to 4.

It was Done before that in something called BF2142

Support

Recon

Assault

Engineer

If you notice they all have unlock trees allowing to equip different gear, or maybe you would like to call them perks. They also have various weapons available allowing them to fill different roles.

BF2142 also featured light and heavy body armor. It was also the first battlefield game to introduce fade over distance damage.

The things you have seen is basically a natural progression of the series. alot of the complaints are also featured in previous games. So the fact that they increased and have more features for the unlock system automatically makes them trying to copy COD????????????? i dont get it. Lets yell at them for providing more guns and options than previous battlefield games, and adding what i consider absolutely awesome battlefield destruction. Battlefield has always done its own thing and always will.

I love Battlefield, and with FB2.0 in my eyes they can do no wrong. You see, I started playing BF on console with BC1, I was never an FPS fan before that. So that was all I knew. Then BC2 came out and it was even better (a few parts of BC1 were better). BF3 can only be better (optimistically thinking).

Prone or no prone I'm in

I'm hoping for 64 man servers like the days of old. And if they can some how incorporate a game type that resembles the "Titan" game mode, I'm definitely in. Titan Mode was always epic

One note, damage fade was not introduced in 2142. It was introduced in 1942 (aka the first game lol), the medic gun's damage was reduced depending on the distance to the target.

I've been gaming for nearly 25 years (since Atari yo!) and it's safe to say that he hasn't, considering he really doesn't know what the hell he's talking about here. COD took elements from other games that preceeded it. COD2 was the LAST original game in the series. But, you probably already know that.

i wouldnt really compare it with 1942 as the entire combat model is different, even has body part damage modifiers other than just the head. It is also hitscan combat. I get what you are saying though.

I'm not talking about the classes being reduced. In fact I liked that about BF2142.

The specialization system is partly from COD.

Ammo Upgrade/Explosive Upgrade - This is like the equivalent of the Bandoleer Perk in COD. In BF2 you had more ammo for your guns standard then you have in BC2 with Ammo Upgrade. BF2 gave players realistic amount of ammo. COD gives you like two magazines because your generally not gonna live long enough in there style of play. Which is fast paced meat grinder gameplay. BC2 is like this in a way.

Lightweight Pack - Pretty much lightway perk from COD. Why not just Armor or no Armor. More armor = more health and less armor = running faster.

Magnum Ammo - is like stopping power perk

Grenade Upgrade - like x3 Grenade from COD

Body Armor - not armor at all, just increased health like Jugernaut perk.

Explosive MK2 - Exactly like Sonic Boom perk from COD. More explosive damage.

Those are all the infantry perks that I can remember off the top of my head. If you can't see that that's blatantly like Call of Duty then your an idiot. They fully copied it.

Then to reinforce everything you have the vehicle perks. Blatant copy from W@W. The heck was the point of this. Why not just have everything. Coaxial MG's and smoke were standard in BF2. 2142 had the zoom. Why have players pick and create a rock paper scissors environment. Give the tanks some proper features so proper tank combat can happen.

First of all I'm not implying that COD is a better game at all. I was just saying that the franchise was going uphill in terms of gameplay until it hit console. Where the gameplay was changed for the worst.

Second. I don't need to have been gaming for 25 years to know what I'm talking about. I've played BF since the very start and I see that you are just in denial. Look @ above. It's clear that DICE copied Call of Duty. It's not a better game but it's what sells. They sold themselves out. Which is why my hopes for BF3 are fading. I wish so hard that I'll be wrong, BF is my favorite series but looking at the facts and thinking realistically I don't think it's gonna happen.

Yeah, its totally clear they copied it. Because adding things like Increased damage or health is entirely an invention by Infinity ward. Or extra ammo or grenades. Yeah that was totally invented by COD, oh wait bf2141 featured those as extra kit unlocks.

Body armor or no body armor? Are you really that stupid that you are willing to say its a increased health instead? the extra 25% health is to add realism, and 25% more health results in it taking 1-3 more bullets to get a kill Seems alot like it could be body armor to me.

Its alot harder to invent stuff to use in a modern game like this compared to inventing things that are used in the future.

Considering you can sprint infinately in this game, Just like COD i know. COD invented infinate sprinting. Instead of all the sprint duration increases and such from bf2142, they allowed you to take something at increased sprint.

Hell with your logic, COD copied vehicles from the battlefield series, they also copied modern warfare from battlefield 2. Along with the unlock system. Spawn system was also copied.

It doesnt at all seem like BC2 is a progression in the series at all. nope not at all, none.
