Yes, DICE took some gameplay tips from MW. Why? Newsflash, because the Bad Company games are an offshoot from the Battlefield series targeted at the fast-paced (console) market.

You can think that this means that BF3 is going to be BC2 with bigger maps, command rose, and jets all you want, but given the amount of BF3 information (next to zero), i'm going to remain hopefully optimistic until March 1st.

You are comparing 3 different games! BC2 is not Bf2 obviously, just like Bf3 probably wont be like BC2 either. Like someone above said, the modern warfare, and Bad Company series are meant to be faster paced console style shooters.

Heres the way I see it. COD went full on console (or mainstream if you prefer) loving with the Modern Warfare series and that is the only thing that remains of COD. On the other hand Battlefield has a spin off series in Bad Company that is aimed at the mainstream fps market, if they were planning on going the same direction with BF3 they would just call it Bad Company 3.

In general though I just don't understand why there is such pessimism about a game we know close to nothing about. They often say if you're too positive you're just setting yourself up for disappointment, but I truly believe pessimism only breeds further pessimism and you'll just find something else to complain about.

edit: Higgins pretty much beat me to it

If they don't incorporate and really exploit the squad teamplay element that makes BF2 so much fun they will have a EA version of Black-ops.

BadCo is a push and move on console game that just happens to work on a PC. The three elements of BF2, air, armor, and ground all working together is what makes that 6 year old game the best ever. If there is no commander rose, that will prove its a single player game disquised as a multi-player console port pc game.

I'd like to believe you CaptainChaos but realistically speaking. There is almost no way you can have a cross-platform game and it won't be dumbed down. I don't need any information about the game to draw to this conclusion.

Consoles like the fast paced, COD style BF that BadCompany has.

PC likes BF2 style gameplay.

They aren't going to make two separate games, which is what would be required to satisfy the PC and live up the BF2. It would cost way to much money and the margin for profit wouldn't be that great. They are not in a position that they can afford a screw up. I studied Economics for 4 years, that's what my degree is in. I fully understand the concept of supply & demand. Which is why I know what I'm asking for (A full untouched PC game) is but a pipe dream. Consoles hold the dollars, PC sells more then either console but not combined. If they make a game it's going to be centered around the console and console style of play. With the selling point for PC being 64 player maps, maybe one or two jets, implemented in the style of which choppers in BC2 were implemented. Which means very noobified flight controls. Maybe the maps will be a little wider and a of course better visuals but that don't mean anything if the gameplay sucks.

Like I said, I will eat my own fecal matter if I'm wrong and I hope to do so, so I can be wrong and enjoy my favorite series of all time. But it's just not looking good my friends.

well, thats kinda wrong.

you can build a map for 64 players and then scale it down to support 24 or less on a section of the map.

kinda like how conquest maps feature a section of the rush map.

Easily done here also. Both Console and PC get the same maps, only console maps get smaller sections. Damn give me an award.

Also ATI is putting alot of money into battlefield 3 as its Sponser, making sure it takes full advantage of dx11.

Sounds simple in theory but in practice this is hard. A "map" requires many elements. If all you do is scale a big map down to a small one, then you might not get all the "elements" that are required to make a "map". That's the best way I could explain it. If only it were that easy, then we would have it made but it's not. You would likely need a separate developer team when it comes to the maps.

Next. You think they will adjust the whole way the kits work? Have BF3 PC have the BF2/2142 style kits and BF3 console has the Bad Company style Perk system?

You think they will remove all the console features like...

Auto Regenerating health

Very small ammunition reserves

Absence of fire selectors

Lack of Commanders

Lack of prone

Noobified flight/vehicle controls e.g BC2 anti-tip over for vehicles.

...and then implement them on PC? If anything that would prove PC gaming/gamers "superior" to the eyes of some and we all know that butthurt console gamers just CAN'T happen. Look at the Operation Hastings challenge for Bad Company 2 Vietnam. PC cleaned the floor and got more points then both consoles combined and unlocked the map in just under a week. With less overall players in the game and less overall hours. Then butthurt console kiddies started with the hackusations. DICE then gave both systems the map to make em happy and disguised it under "Happy Newyear".

well, luckily various size maps have been around for quite a while in battlefield games depending on the amount of players to be hosted. I'm sure Dice has more than enough experience doing something they have done multiple times before.

absence of fire selecters was a design decision, as they were in bad company 1.

Ammo reserves? you get plenty of rockets, plenty of side arm ammo, and 4 clips of your main weapon. Thats plenty, as side arms are useful in this game than the old battlefields where you were better off reloading your weapon than attempting to kill them with a pistol. Also less ammo helps to emphasize the teamwork of your squad. You only run out of ammo if your team doesnt work together, something you claim is clearly battlefield oriented.

Anti tip over vehicles? i flipped plenty of vehicles in bc2.

Lack of commanders. Maybe, but i think the addition of the UAV was their decision instead. So that commanders have a very high tactical view and can spot enemies engage them with small arms fire for support, or call in a rocket to support.

Lack of prone was another gameplay decision. No prone in BC1 why would bc2 have it.

You seem to have trouble understanding that bad company is a not a traditional battlefield game. Even the devs have stated it multiple times on the forums when people rant.

No I know BC is a console game, you seem to have trouble understanding that these are the features that will be in BF3. BF3 WILL BE RELEASED ON CONSOLE TOO. BC style games is what sells on console not BF2 style games. My whole post pointed out on how it's not possible to juggle two games at once. BC style game will be made for console the PC version will get that with a few bells and whistles. I suggest you read my post again, nothing personal but it clearly explains as to why the above is most likely to happen.

well, i think we have gone as far as we can go here. We both have differing opinions and little facts on either side at the moment. Lets see what we have march 1st when they release gameplay footage.
