So all that stuff about not going over 1.4vcore is BS?

You can go higher as long as temps are below 72.6c?

And 72c is bs too, it isn't the max temp, that's the tcase. It takes much higher temps for tcase to be 72c.

So what is the temp limit like those displayed in Core Temp and RealTemp?

i5-2500k, Gigabyte UD3 board, Coirsair H50 cooler. Got it running at 4.4 GHz at Vcore of 1.39 V, and default PLL. Wouldn't even boot at 4.5 GHz. Hardware monitors shows temps of around 55 C at full load (four threads of primes95).

But that was with stock BIOS. Flashed a new BIOS today, will try again.

I don't think that cpu-z is showing correct voltage.

1.6v though - you can be assured that doesn't exist anywhere but under a pot.

Looks like 1.529v to me? Where is 1.6 at? I'm pretty sure I know who done this and it wasn't done with a pot.

But I would still expect Sandybridge to be at least 10 percent faster in gflops with linpack. Maybe more since the NB is now tied to the core frequency and the memory bandwidth is much, much greater than bloomfields.

I'm still suspecting some sort of throttling.
