I was looking in to getting a EVGA gtx 580 and dont want to risk ruining my new loop cause of something like this. I ather go full coper than nickle anyways but they dont sell it with that option. I would have to buy a regular card then buy a block. This card comes with the backplate plus is already way overclocked the only downside is the nickle at this point.

I would look into aftermarket, like ek or koolance , as its cheaper starts @ $100) and will perform better, also looks better too.

Folks, keep in mind the op for this thread and my issues are just a couple of rare instances. A lot of folks have used EK blocks with no issues and continue to do so. Why? Because they are really one of the best water block manufacturers. There is no perfect company so things like these issues will arise on occasion. I'm not bashing or bad-mouthing EK, nor are my intentions to scare people from them. They are my first choice in recommending a water block. Not only do they perform the part, they look beautiful too. Shoot, I just ordered a ram block from them

depends on their policy. My issue was totally denied by them and directed to ek, same thing when I had a problem w/ my CHIV block and performance-pcs (it was a overlooked/simple/user error ). I suspect, somethings are covered by the retailer, some are left to the customer and manufacturer to deal with.

i'm not scared to use the EKFc480 blocks. nothing lasts forever people. i would do a 1 time a month drain ever 4 months or so and see how much build up it takes

luckily i dont use a case but most likely not scared to use PT nuke or kill coil but right now kill coil seems like the best option cause from reading PT nuke adding too much causes plasticizing and adding too little does nothing really haven't seen anyone not add to little.

2 drops of pt nuke should last you a while but dont drag it for too long. NO to vinegar :[

I'm getting some very minor discoloration on my EK 580 block where the water seems it would have the most pressure against the surface of the block and all I used is distilled and 1/8 gram of copper sulfate.

cupric (copper) sulfate was poured into my res and dissolved into the loop

I don't really care if it strips every bit of nickel down to the copper underneath as I can't really see the water channels anyway and it's not gonna hurt performance.

It did however remove some stubborn algae/bacteria whatever it was it was green when it came shooting out of my CPU block and landed in my res. A day later it was black, now it's gone... Plus it gave my tubing just the slightest blue tinge....
