"Documents and Settings not accessible. Access is denied." Windows 7

Thread Starter
This is the same install of Windows 7 I've been using on the notebook since I got it.

Can not get into the folder. Administrator has no access rights and Windows won't allow me to change control. I'm logged in as Administrator.

Any ideas?

Are you on some network? If so, it could be because your privileges have been reduced.

Are you running compatibility mode for Windows XP or Virtualization. I believe this folder is locked because its reserving these documents and settings for applications that are compatible with Windows XP.

I'm sure you can change the permission by right clicking > security > advance > change permission > remove the permission entry that says deny and see if that works.

First post!

You can also try to take ownership of the folder. Happened to me when I used my old computers' OS disk on my windows 7, which has a different user.

Right click on the folder > security tab > advanced button > owner tab
Click on your user or administrators and tick replace owner on subcontainers and obj. Then hit ok.
Hope it helps smile.gif
