IMHO, unless you know for certain that you are going to be using all 6 cores, go for a x2/3/4 black edition or something fast. I bought my 1055t thinking it was bad-a-zz and it sat there waiting with 1 core pegged at 100% in my CAD software. Meanwhile I'm sitting on my thumbs. My sig rig just nudges out the 560BE in performance (that's how it "feels" to me when doing CAD), so that's the setup I kept for the CAD computer.

My 1055t is ok ... I dedicated it to folding, otherwise I'd sell it. IMHO my F3 rig with its 560 x2 BE feels faster when it is clocked to 3.9 GHz. It unlocked to 4 cores and is folding with smp -3 and running the 4 "F3" GPUs in my hfm stats.

My preference for a cpu cooler is the Zalman 9200 or better. I am so impressed by the Zalman on my F1 rig! It outperforms the coolers on my other rigs. Better still, it works on the first try. I have reinstalled the H50 5 or 6 times and I'm still tempted to take it off and lap the block. H50s are a POS.

Otherwise, I suggest trying to spend money on things you can take forward in life: PSU, cpu cooler, GPU, and maybe RAM. SAVE money on the things that are already obsolete and soon to be outclassed: cpu, motherboard.

Case? Man, I used to slam people that buy spendy cases. That was until I got the USP100 that F3 lives in. I think the next case or two I buy are going to be rack mount or the LAN Boy.

Don't forget the OCN classifieds ... the i7 2600k should be causing an avalanche of intel c2d and c2q as well as a plethora of AM3 cpus.

on NCIX :

Athlon II x4 640 $100
MSI 870-G45 $67 MIR15
Thermaltake V4 Black Edition $40
OCZ StealthXStream 2 500W $50 MIR15
Patriot Viper Xtreme 4GB 2X2GB DDR3 2000MHZ PC3-16000 9-11-9-27 $85 MIR30
ASUS Radeon HD 6870 913MHZ $220 MIR20
Corsair Cooling Air Series A50 $25 MIR15

Total : $587 - MIR $95 = $492 + FREE shipping (The ram I selected gives free shipping)

So what you pay now : $616.28

Total : $521.28

EDIT : forgot HDD so add another 50$ to the build
