Need a good modular PSU

Thread Starter
I need a decent modular PSU that is cheap without the risk of my hardware being destroyed. I don't care for efficiency, its not really a factor because I try to run my computer at a minimum when I am not actively using it. I have a 4870x2 and a 9800GT for my GPU configuration, and that is the only thing that is not in my signature. So a minimum of a lot of amps and three 6+2 pin PCI-E connectors are needed.

Corsair HX Series 650W

It has all that you need, 4x PCIE modular cables, enough wattage for your purposes (although a 750 wouldn't hurt), and 52 Amps on the 12V rail. Thats why I like Corsair PSUs, they feature single rail 12V output, which is ideal for multiple GPU configurations.

Edit: Missed the "Cheap" section there Antecs are nice too, just not as much on the 12V rail as a Corsair.

Though the HX650 is a good option. Also consider this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-064-_-Product

If you are looking at the 600W Silverstone, don't overlook this one. It comes with 80+ Silver for what it's worth..

900 watt modular PSU for a very decent price, great brand.
It was just $43 2 weeks ago though.

I still like the Corsair HX650
