Advice on new case? (limit is ~$150)

Thread Starter
Hi guys, I was wondering which is the best case in my price range, currently. I have done some research and I'm considering the CM 690 II, the SilverStone Raven RV02, and maybe one of the HAF series, although to be honest I think the HAFs look butt ugly. Maybe also the Fractal Design Define, but it seems like its only available at NCIX and I've heard the shipping is pretty bad. The biggest things i have in mind as far as features are a tool-less design, room for big GPUs (my current NZXT m59 only has room for 10 1/2" cards, and most of the new cards are more than that i.e. the 6950.), and enough room to hide cables behind the mobo panel (again, my current case's back door barely closes with only half of the cables behind it) This is for my sig rig. Thanks so much!

Lian-Li has a lot of great designs for that price range. I like your suggestion of the Fractal, especially the Define R3. This case is very adaptable. It's built for quiet but has room for something like 8 120mm fans or 4 140mm and 4 120mm. The only problem with it is the hd cage is not removable, so it won't fit a 5970; everything will fit. Unfortunately, unless you want to wait for some warehouses to open in the US, shipping will cost about $50, bringing the total up to $160.

Corsair 600t is an all-round solid case to consider, albeit a bit unattractive.

I'm deciding between the following currently (shortened-list in bold):

NZXT Tempest EVO
NZXT Phantom

Lian-Li Lancool PC-K62
Rosewill Armor
Rosewill Thor
Corsair 600t
Cooler Master Storm Scout
Cooler Master Storm Sniper
Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced

Personally I think the NZXT Phantom is the nicest on the list, for features/price/style, and might just win out my choice despite stretching beyond my budget.

I've trawled many sites looking at different cases - these seem to be the best of the best between $80-150, excluding the Antec900/1200 and CM HAF series which I'm just not interested in (excluding the HAF 912 Advanced which was intriguing)

here's my 2 cents ( if that's how you say it xD)

If you're gonna go for water cooling, go with corsair cases.

If you're gonna go for air cooling, go with the HAF cases (which are also good for water cooling) or the antec 1200. If you're not into those, then the CoolerMaster CM 690 II Advanced is a REALLY GREAT choice, as well as storm scout and storm sniper.

If you still don't want any of those. Look at the NZXT Phantom, it's also a very good case, and it comes with a free fan controller

Honestly, I don't think anything touches the Phantom in that price range. It looks fantastic, has plenty of room, great airflow, excellent cable management and has a built in fan controller.

I'll be picking one up very soon as well. ^_^
