PSU 1 89.99$ (-10$ MIR)
PSU 2 89.99$ (modular but 30 watts less and no MIR) both PSUs are enought for a future crossfire setup anyway
Video Card 129.99$ (-30$ MIR) will run preaty much everything you throw at it
CPU + Mobo combo 183.99$ (-15$ MIR) phenoms are only good if your on a 800+ budget , for a 500 dollar budget this chip is best bang4buck , mobo will support crossfire in future and not tear down ur wallet
Memory 1 49.99$ not the best but will do the job
Memory 2 59.99$ (-10$ MIR) same price if u get MIR and slightly better
Case 1 49.99$ (1 side , 1 rear fans) <-personal preference
Case 2 49.99$ (1 rear )

total price : 503$ , total price after mail in rebate : 448$
thats as future proof and as price per perfomance (ppp) as you can get i think
recieve the MIRs and you can grab an HDD
Thanks Rabbit! What would be your personal preference for the PSU, I assume it's the modular one?

If they are intensive at all, i'd suggest getting an athlon II and OCing it and getting a stronger graphics card to run 1080p.
Nothing too fancy, just Blizzard games (Diablo III in the future), League of Legends, maybe Counterstrike, among others. But I do watch a lot of movies and such, some with higher resolutions.

Movies will run fine on pretty much any dedicated graphics card and those games aren't very intensive at all. Honestly, if you're looking to build this as cheaply as possible I can come up with another build. Also, it wouldn't hurt to look into getting an OCN member to ship you a microcenter AMD combo.

That sounds cool; I do want to keep the door open for something newer that may pique my interest though.

well, depending on the resolution of your monitor, the 5770 should be pleanty for those games! the 460 may be a tad too much (again, depending on resolution). i have used the 5770 and was very happy with it for quite a while on my 1360x768 + 1024x768 monitor setup. i was able to run Dirt 2 on mostly high settings and keep frames above 50 pretty much the entire time.

and, i actually still have my 5770 sitting in the corner collecting dust. (along with various other parts)

although, i have no experience with AMD.

Total Price is 586 + 12 with Shipping without the what if's and or's.
I rather like this build, just a few quirks:
1. Don't pair a 125W Phenom II 955 + tower cooler with a 4+1 unheatsinked motherboard. The 955 + M4A87TD EVO combo for a few $$$ more comes with a much safer 8+2 power phase
2. Hyper 212 is only on Amazon
3. Gigabyte GTS 450 + Antec NEO ECO 520W. Much better, more reliable power supply, and a great card which should perform slightly better than 5770. Together $170, $160 AR so cheaper!
4. Samsung F3 1TB - $51.84 shipped [before tax] at Superbiiz after coupon code "HELLO2011"; better price, MUCH better hard drive.

Nice, thank you!

If I get a cpu cooler like the 212, do I have to do any sanding?
