There is a difference between a little shop or someone doing this as a side gig vs a huge company like Dell or HP. Dell or HP doesn't care if they have to replace a small HDD or a stick or RAM or even a MB. They make tons of money. Now someone doing this as a side gig does.

I could sit here and mess up the computer then blame the OP and demand a replacement. Screwing OP out of money / hardware.

But if I have them sign something saying it worked fine when they took it home wouldn't that be enough?

One more question: What should I charge? This is what I was thinking earlier:

$50 for the easier things (virus/spyware removal, home wireless network setup, etc) When doing anything with the computer I would also run defrag and ccleaner so they likely notice a speed increase.

For custom builds I would charge 8% of the total cost of parts.

If no one knows what ASDA is. It's like the UK's equivalent of Walmart.

what part of florida do you live in?

Perhaps create a website and then print out some flyers advertising it

There's no such thing as excessive when it comes to fixing things. Hiren's Boot CD, Ultimate Boot Disk, flash drives with numerous versions of Windows and not to mention various drivers for various boards, cards, peripherals, etc always accompany me. Normally, I have a client come to my house and drop the item to be repaired off and I call them when I am finished.
