Starting a side job computer business, need help! - Page 6

So far I have Ubuntu bootable from my USB, Avast!, AVG, CCleaner, GetDataBack, HijackThis, HouseCall, ImgBurn, MalwareBytes, MSE32bit, MSE64bit, and Ultimate Boot Disc 4 Win's setup file. I of course still need the SPs. Is there a legal way to get OEM and retail discs/files since I would only be using them to reinstall it using the clients'existing keys?

Just download Windows .ISO's. You're just using their CD. Nothing wrong with that.

Where am I supposed to get the ISOs though? I imagine they are available on MSDN but I don't have that. And the warez versions are generally modified IIRC.

Not really. You can find legit ones. I have downloaded quite a bit of them. Just in case if I ever had a situation where myself or someone needed to reinstall their OS.

Since most people buy from Dell, HP, etc and use product keys, can I just use the OEM ISO and then when it asks for a product key enter the client's? Would that essentially change it to a retail version and go with the product key instead of skipping it?

I remember there was a thread with the Windows 7 download iso and also had some batch file that would remove something so when you tried to install it you would get all the Window 7 versions (starter, home, pro and ultimate). Maybe someone will point you to it.

About pricing... I charge 20-30 removing viruses. It depends how easy it was to remove it and if they brought their PC to my home where I just do a few clicks to scan them and clean them. I also charge about 30 bucks to do easy restores if i don't need to install any driver or anything. But then again all the ppl are deal with are mostly Family's friends and the pass the word between them and hire me.

I know but can I just use OEM then enter a product key when it asks instead of skipping? Would that make it rely on the product key not the motherboard?

Miami competition, eh?

You DO NOT want to mess with Kevin's Custom Computers or I will beat you down.

EDIT: I haven't set a fixed charge for builds but I usually do 10-15% of cost of parts.

15% if it's a cheaper or more expensive build?
