Asus P8p67 pro or deluxe?

Thread Starter
IM debating on getting one of these boards, and i've done some research, and from all that I see is that the deluxe has a different heatsink on it and has debug code display, and 2x lan ports. but other than that they seem pretty much the same. Is there anything that I am over looking about the deluxe that is a must have when it comes to a P67 chipset?

Pro
  • I Gigabit Lan (Intel)
  • 12+2 VRM
  • Realtek ALC892
  • Mosfet heatsink uses push-pins

Deluxe
  • 2 Gigabit Lan (Intel/Realtek)
  • 16+2 VRM
  • Realtek ALC889
  • Front Panel USB 3.0 Box
  • Mosfet heatsink uses screws

The Deluxe is a better board but I wouldn't pay more than $25 over the Pro.

Get the Deluxe. Even if it's a bit more expensive. Cause if you go with the Pro, you'll always wish you'd gotten the Deluxe.

it all depends if the extra goodies mainly the 16+2 VRM and nicer heatsinks are worth the 50 or odd dollars more. Personally, I would stick with the Pro with a budget build and the Deluxe for the higher end build.

Think the Deluxe has an extra PLX chip which'll allow full speed PCI-E x16 speeds even when SATA3 an USB3 are being used. Otherwise the PCIE lanes will reduce to 8X.

The Pro doesn't hev this, but not 100% sure frown.gif

So Deluxe version is better for CF or SLI than Pro?

Yep, this is pretty much my mentality. haha

I believe in the newegg interview the Asus rep also pointed out that the deluxe is an 8-layer pcb (much heavier board), which generally means better quality and it should better support big coolers for your overclocking needs. wink.gif

There's also the heatpipe and extra cooling fins, but you also get that with the evo.
I ordered up the Deluxe because launch night the evo wasn't available anywhere.

I got the deluxe, it was definitely worth the extra money IMO.

Usb3.0 box
better heatsinks
more power phases
debug LCD
onboard power/reset/clear CMOS buttons
dual LAN
better onboard sound

After using the evga 750i ftw, I can't live without the oboard buttons and debug LCD. Definitely must have desires for me. Same with the usb3.0 box, since my case would be a pain to get to the onboard usb3.0
