I have a 212+ but I used shin etsu with it, I generally do not trust the paste that come with a hsf, so my vote is no.

The difference between the best and worst thermal paste is less than 4 - 5C. Just use it, it'll be fine and do the job well.

would you trust the paste that comes on the h50? cause it's shin etsu... also if you think about it, good thermal paste over okay thermal paste is the cheapest way to drop 4-5C, i'll pay 10 bucks for a tube of TIM any day of the week if its guaranteed to lower my temps 4C

At idle temp yes, but under load, the temps between the best and worse can be over 10C

So put it together and practice installing it with the stock TIM. I would anyway, cuz the 212 has those exposed heatpipes and I'd be paranoid about getting the right amount of TIM on there. Then the AS5 gets there, you can swap it out and you'll be a pro.

with the 212+, put 3 dots between the heat pipes, then spread it with a credit card, to fill in the cracks
then put a pea sized dot in the center of the cpu
