No it's not. They'll be on a 6 to 8 core platform, they should be "As good as or even better", not "really close to".

AMD you're letting me down. I was about to downgrade and wait till BD to come out, but now I have absolutely no reason to.

Here's what I think about Bulldozer

Make a decision based on some 'rumor' or leaked information - I'm sure that's smart.

Fact is we don't know how the BDs will perform. AND - what price they'll come in at.

I'll wait to see an article with some actual testing going on. Not just " I heard that they'll be this fast."

^All depends on price my friend!

Intel's mainstream is better than its previous enthusiast(re: 980x), but costs $329. AMD will undoubtedly undercut this price point with at least the 6-core part and probably match it with its 8-core parts.

My hypothesis(In order of performance): 2500K -> 6-core Bulldozer -> 8-core Bulldozer/2600K

Over all, I think it will be a good showing for AMD, but Intel still has another socket to launch this year. I doubt AMD will compete there though as they will be priced accordingly.

Most of the time these rumors are very close to being true. Remember some of the Sandy Bridge rumors with it's speed in comparison to the 980x? For the most part it was true. It's doing very well in comparison to the 980x. The overclocking rumor wasn't entirely true however there are a few things you cannot OC in the UEFI.

Now this is a new architecture. Brand spanking new, from the ground up. Nothing is brought over from K10. I would be expecting something phenomenal in comparison to the previous architecture. Now maybe it's not great to begin with if these rumors are true, but it definitely is a stepping stone. AMD will then refine the architecture, bull ahead in a sub $200 market, then fall behind for years to come while they develop a new architecture to replace Bulldozer.

So maybe in a year it'll be REALLY GREAT, hence....

Don't believe it until you see a cinebench for yourself or from more websites.

I dont believe a word of it. FUD is sensationalizing the fact that Dirk M, stepped dn.

The fact is , there are no facts.
