Laing DDC pump repair PCB mod

Thread Starter
After replaced the PCB of DDC 18W, the ampere increased from 1.5A to 1.8A,
the flow rate increased about 20% (using stock top)
The audible noise is also increased it should be caused by the increased rotation speed
The IC leg spacing is only 0.33mm, drag soldering is the only way
I have accidentally reverse the diode and the most expensive IC burn immediately at connecting the power
This controller TB6588FG is an all-in-one design, it has built-in overheat and restart protection, only a few external component can get it work, the original laing design is unnecessary complex.
This IC also have built-in speed control, connecting a variable resistor can adjust the rotation speed.
More information can be found in the Toshiba semiconductor website, it has datasheet and official circuit to follow.

Looking forward for some results of this mod

So, where can these boards be purhcased to mod a DDC pump? I'm very interested. +REP

Now this is very surprising! Only $10. So, if I take an old DDC-1 or DDC-1T 12VDC@10W and swap the PCB, I get a mega boost pump that would outperform anything in retail today.

I really wonder if the Swiftech MCP-35X is based off of this PCB.

This now means that anyone with a DDC pump can upgrade vs. getting the MCP35X pump for a mere $10+s.

This is so way cool!

Looking forward to Martin210's handy work on getting a pair of these DDC-1 10W working. Of course a little time would be needed since a steady hand and care is required to build one. Then let the testing begin.

Got the package today with the non-working pumps. Wizzard supplied me with one Sanyo and one Toshiba PCB too, so I've got what I need to start soldering.

I have tested the Toshiba motor wizzard sent over to some degree, but I havn't tried the Sanyo yet. Plan to spend some time with these over the next week or so.

Fun!!

Picked up a 50K pot at radio shack that should make the Toshiba version variable. I think this is how you do it...I'll give it a try.

Got the pot to work, except I like it setup this way. I tried a 50K and 100K pot and the 50K was perfect. Gives the Toshiba based controller a nice vario like feature that's common to the D5 vario. Unfortunately this is only common to the Toshiba, the Sanyo does not have a speed controller feature.
