[PCG] Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad hands-on - Page 5

Actually it was Red Orchestra. They won first prize for the Make something unreal contest, which has the grandprize of licenses. Can't find any other proof than wiki though. Articles are sparse.

this guy has the right philosophy of FPS gaming

That was after explaining the ammo mechanic, where you won't know how much ammo you have until you check. Something like Condemned

You know a game is gonna be great when the dev's don't have to announce "we are gonna haz 64 players in our game!" now go drool "We are adding dedicated servers!" Now bow down "Look people, prone!" We are god.

Tripwire sounds like they are developers that like PC gaming themselves, so they wanna make a PC game. They understand what comes with a PC game package. With or without PC gamer's opinions.

I really like that feature, as well as the HUD, which IIRC is invisible until you press a button to see it all.

its because they are gamers first. They were a mod team that won a contest and got to go retail with it and riding high on the success of that game and the huge success of killing floor, which was made by another modder, who asked to bring his mod to RO, and they said to him why not join us and we will do a retail release.

They have a vision for their game, and they dont have a publisher telling them how a game has to be made, or who it is made for. They create a game that they want and are proud of. They are what the gaming industry should be full of, and was at one time, then publishers figured out they could simply buy developers or make their own and hold IPs hostage and simply rape and pillage the gaming scene with wreckless abandon, and very few independent developers are left because its becoming harder and harder to find work because a publisher will simply keep work in house now.

I agree with 100% of this post! Tripwire is a great dev, I can't wait until they license a newer engine (or create one) but until they do I will enjoy their work. I played countless hours of KF (simple but very fun game!) and hope RO2 comes out soon!

If you want a real taste of realistic FPS, try ARMA2 or the Project Reality mod for BF2.
