Hello guys, I was wondering if I should go for ASRock P67 Extreme4 Gen3 or ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3. I don't need the extra features Z68 has to offer but from what I have heard Z68 has a better chipset. On the other hand, P67 has been around for a long time and according to newegg reviews its the most popular motherboard with the best rating along with sabertooth.

The only feature I would like to see is Ivy bridge support. Does anyone know if this motherboard is getting ib support? Why have PCI-E 3 in the first place without IB support though, right?

Also, I was thinking about GIGABYTE GA-Z68XP-UD3P as an alternative to Asrock but the DOA rate of these boards is scary. biggrin.gif

Is this a good board if you only need a single PCIe? Currently have a 22" monitor and dont plan on going any bigger then 24" in the future if i even upgrade.
Any reason why you cant get a good overclock w/ an 2500k? 4.5ghz +?
Will it support Ivy bridge?
Thanks

I have the P67 and I love it. Overclocks really well so far, I've only gone to 4.5 but I've seen others hit 5Ghz pretty easily with proper cooling. ASRock has stated that all of their Gen3 Boards will be getting IB support, probably with BIOS updates when IB launches. If you don't need the built in graphics of Z68, or the SSD caching, go with the P67. I was in the same position as you and don't regret my decision at all.

Ok great thank you for the response,

Any reason why the P67 Fatal1ty performance would not be sufficient in overclocking an I5 2500k as compared to other ASrock boards?

I have a P67 Extreme6, which is pretty similar to the Fatality board, and I've had no issues with overclocking a 2700K. You should be fine with a 2500K. I went for the 6 due to options it had (mainly the extra SATA ports, as I need all I can get).
