Why did you buy the extreme4 vs the pro3?
You just basically answered that question.

I got it for SLI (soon or near future) and I like the extra features and it wasn't expensive compared to most brands with the same and/or less features.

i plan on making it an HTPC machine in a few years, so the extra I/O will be great. for now, its a gaming machine and needs SLi.

thats why

I was thinking about crossfiring two asus radeon 6850 cards with this board in a cooler master haf 932. Will this fit? I'm away from my comp waiting on my flight and was pondering this...

None as of yet, 1.7 seems pretty good. I didn't spend a lot of time on 1.6; as in the 2nd thing I did after powering it on for the first time was flash the BIOS . I used the USB method and it was a breeze!

Same here. I mean, the USB 3.0 header is cool, as are the extra SATA ports, but ulimately I have the option (who am kidding, I can't wait to get a second 560 in there!) to go SLI.

New Bios went out here.
Edit: This is just for the extreme4
But still I'm sticking to 1.70

A question here.. would a 1155 processor boot if the board has a missing pin in the vcc part?

I must admit I'm curious as to what/how well the 1.80 UEFI fares for the Extreme4; ASRock's "Update CPU code" change log isn't exactly definitive. They still also need to update the Etron USB 3 and Realtek HD Audio drivers on their download page...
