HIS 6950 vs Sparkle GTX 570

Thread Starter
Hi!

I want to buy a new GPU over my 4890 xXx. I have 2 option HIS 6950 and Sparkle GTX 570, they are costing me exactly the same in Pakistan, $385 (yes too high for 6950, but thats how resellers here rip off customers). The problem is that I have never owned a sparkle before, just XFX or HIS. Which one should I buy? I wanted to buy 6950 for 3-monitor gaming using eyefinity. Can I game with a 570 on 3 monitors just like eyefinity, it do have 3 output display ports, 2 dvi and one hdmi. I have 3 monitors 2 VGA and one DVI. I know if I opt for 6950 then I'll have to buy a mini DP to VGA (around $50 more) in order to have 2 VGA monitors on a single 6950. Can a GTX 570 support 2 VGA monitor using 2 DVI to VGA converters? And are HDMI to DVI converter available, in order to hook up 3rd monitor with HDMI port, or are HDMI to VGA adapters available? How good or bad are the reviews on sparkle.

One more thing, How good is the 6950 or GTX 570 over my current 4890 xXx.

Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

if you are going multi-monitor, single gpu...6950.

w/ nvidia you need 2 gpus for surround gaming.

also w/ multi-monitor gaming, the 2gb memory will definitely help

and yes, you will notice a massive increase over the 4890, and I've used 3x4890 Toxic's in trifire

Don't forget you might be lucky enough to be able to unlock your 6950 to a 6970. However, that is still not something to bank your decision on. Are both cards going for 385?

Edit: Yeah, they are the same. The GTX570 blows the 6950 out of the water, even if you do manage to unlock the 6950, the 570 will still beat out a 6970 more consistently and has plenty of OC room.

If they are the same price, you should get the GTX570

If your planning on a 3 display setup, then the 6950 as it can all be done on one card, as said above. Performance wise the GTX 570 is faster then the 6950, and both cards a decent amount faster then your current 4890.

If I throw another 570 then will I be able to game on 3 monitor....? Well I actually have plans to SLI or crossfire whichever card I'll buy..... but not so soon, may be 7-8 months later....... But whats the use of 3 display outputs on 570......?

Yeah , the Gtx 570 !

Even if it is sparkle...? Are reviews on Sparkle good enough to make this deal...? EVGA GTX 570 is $100 more, whats the big deal in EVGA version....? Does the cheaper sparkle means lower quality....?

Sorry I forgot to ask one more important question..... I have a Cooler Master Extreme Power 600 Watt..... Will this suffice power requirement for the GTX 570? I know it can handle 6950 easily.....

The CM Extreme PSU's are very low quality. Definitely upgrade it.

A good 550w is more than enough. Check out the PSU section and they'll help you out(I'm lazy and tired atm, sorry).
