Usually...
A partner buys the GPU cores and RAM from NVIDIA.
NVIDIA gives them the Bill of Materials (BOM) and specification.
The partner then makes a contract with a Chinese manufacturer like Foxconn.
Once again...

Assuming that they don't run into any major production hiccups or firmware bugs; yeah they should.

It's still a budding market though; so it's easy to get bumped out by someone.
Right now, if it was anyone it'd probably be Crucial/Micron. I do not foresee that happening though.

OCZ's 8800GTX PCB's were reference design. I think the OEM was Foxconn if I recall.

It may have been BFG; it's been awhile but it was one of the premier partners and it was who ever was making nVidia reference boards at the time.

Why?

My Platinum XTCs rated PC6400 CL4 were plenty of awesomeness... Did 1GHz at CAS5, I loved them! They were 45€ for a pair of sticks Q.Q

Funny how people seems to have more problem with OCZ than other RAM manufactures....
I bought 3 sets of OCZ, 3 sets of Corsair, 1 set of Crucial, and 1 set of Patriot, and 1 set of Kingston in the last 3 years or so.
1 out of the 3 sets of Corsair I bought was defective, in fact the bad ones was a set of DDR2 Dominators, I had to RMA it twice(1st set I received from RMA was bad too). The set of Crucial was doa as well. And the Patriot went bad a few months after I bought it.

But all 3 set of OCZs(1 DDR2 Platinum, 1 DDR3 Platinum, and 1 DDR3 Intel Extreme Edition) were good.

My Crucial SD card went bad as well, and my OCZ Gold SD still works after 2 years lol

Crucial/Micron does not have marketing or brand recognition that OCZ has especially with enthusiasts. For Crucial to pull ahead, they need 1 or more of the following:
1) Better marketing/advertising
2) A game changing SSD
3) SSDs to become mainstream

That's why I said I don't foresee it happening; Crucial/Micron is the only company with the financial power to invest into SSD's heavily enough to bump OCZ right now.

Wow. I never thought I'd see this. Well, Hopefully they can concentrate more on their PSU's and SSD's now. I really liked their ModXtreme powersupplies and have heard conflicting reviews of their SSDs...

We'll see. Good luck OCZ.
