Jvc Rx700 vs Rx900

Thread Starter
I've been watching the prices of the rx700 for the last month now and they have been either out of stock or overpriced like $60 at amazon.
Yesterday i decided to finally look rx900 and heard it had better things about it like softer real leather pads and higher quality headband and that made me really want them.

I was pretty sure yesterday that i was getting the rx900 because i couldn't find the rx700 in stock anywhere for a reasonable price and they were both around $60.Then magically today, I got on 20mins ago and the rx700 where in stock at newegg, buy, and amazon and they were all around $40.

Now I'm frickin confused at the price points. I know they can both be modded to sound awesomer but only mod i think i would do is removing the felt on either of them. I really don't know which one to get, can someone decide for me:o i hate decisions. So is the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HARX900-High-Grade-Full-Size-Headphone/dp/B0013P3ZOE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1294769996&sr=8-2"]rx900[/ame] worth $20 more then the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HARX700-High-Grade-Full-Size-Headphone/dp/B0013OWPV4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294769996&sr=8-1"]rx700[/ame] after mods and all? I'm probably going to get a cheap sound like the asus xonar dg for them. I'm coming from senn hd201's that i've had for a couple weeks and they are really get painful after a couple hours because of my big ears and the cushion are really thin so they don't push the speakers away from your ears. (Thanks if you read all that;), i always tell my entire life's story when i post >_<)

Also, I guess this is a heads up for people that have been looking for the rx700's, they are finally back in stock everywhere for a reasonable price!
Buy

I just got my HA-RX700s yesterday. I bought them for $40 on Amazon on New Years Eve. From all that I've read, they say that the RX700s have more balanced sound, so that's what I went for. They say that RX900 is too heavy on the bass, but I wouldn't know.

In my opinion though, the bass on the RX700 could be a bit higher. But i dunno, I'm still burning them in / have a relatively weak sound card.

I got the RX-900's for christmas like, love them for the price they are. Real damn comfy too but since i havnt listened to the RX-700's i couldnt give you any advice on what to choose other than, you wont be disappointed.

The RX-900 seem great for bass, if not enough but im using crap onboard sound but gives a real warm bass

Ha, I knew those two headphones weren't discontinued.

Read this.

I still own the RX700 and RX900.

soooo, which one do you like better:) I think, i might go for the rx900. I really want that comfort and i guess they can both get to a nice sound when modded.

I like both about equally. Neither of them hold a candle to my JVC HA-DX3 though in terms of clarity.

I have the 700's and my friend has the 900's. I can tell his has a bit more bass, but for me they both sound great. The 900 also has (IMO) more comfortable earpads.

The 700's are like the really thin plastic stuff over foam and the 900's are more like foam filled leather or vinyl.

The RX900s are definitely more comfortable out of the box but since my RX700s are using my RX900's original headband and pads, it's really hard to say which is more enjoyable regarding sound quality/signature. My RX900 has the RX700 headband but new RX900 pads.

I have RX900 little brother has RX700, I like the sound on mine a little better. Feels "bigger". However I'm fairly certain, I'm not looking at his right now, that the RX900 has a little mesh band around each earcup that leaks sound out and gives it a pseudo-open sound. His RX700 keep sound in much better than mine do. So keep that in mind if you have other people in the room.

In no way is it as bad as a true open ear design but FWIW.

ordered the rx900, i hope they don't let to much sound in. I was going to get the ad700's awhile ago but i didn't want a completely open design because the fans of my antec 902 are freaking loud and annoying:band:. I heard open headphones are only good in completely quiet areas and my case does not make my room a peaceful place:mad:
