Look, it was to my understanding that the HD 7000 series wasn't that far away (I read the aforementioned source and a few friends filled me in)...there is limited information on the subject at hand so anyone's word isn't worth much until AMD announces their plans themselves. Hopefully this next series will be good, whenever it gets here.....

HD7xxx won't be until at least Q3, but most likely just before xmas in Q4.

GloFo and AMD have already confirmed the 28nm chips that are to be used in the next GPU series won't be commercially available until H2 2011 (ie. second half of 2011), and the second half of 2011 is anywhere from July to December

So no chance in hell of them being released in Q2 if the chips are not ready until sometime in H2 2011.

i'll enjoy my 6870 for a year, maybe even get another one. I don't see myself upgrading to anything but a 7 series..

You sure 'bout that?

I could be wrong, but from what I remember, the 4890 (reference) card was on par with the 5770.

4890s aren't faster than 5850s. I've owned both. It is definately quite a bit faster than a 5770 though.
