I had this problem as well, I was upgrading my system and it caused this, I tried re-seating several times and that did not solve it. I ended up doing:

"Using msconfig, go to the boot > advanced settings and uncheck the number of processors. "

That I found from the website: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/27...-cores-threads

I found that they were all enabled in the BIOS and they were just not being found by windows, it appears that I confused at some point during the upgrade, though all I kept from the old system was my hard-drive.

Hope this helps!

EDIT: You have to restart after unchecking this to let anything happen.

yes yes and thanks the other thread i did cause my computer closed the internet and i couldnt go back to see if i posted the thread and i didnt see it until after i made the new one and yes what you told me helps i now see 4 cores 8 threads

You should be fine now, common windows software issue, happens sometimes when changing cpus without reinstalling windows.

Realtemp/coretemp will show how many cores/threads, also use taskmanager, right click on any active program, then set affinity, and see all 8 threads "cpus", numbered 0 to 7.

Heh I was wondering if it was something like that, I didn't mean to be rude I just wanted to make sure that you saw it so you could get it resolved. Glad it worked! Have fun with the processor I love mine!
