I saw the very cool video for this game and was dissappointed at what it was. Felt like false advertisement.

Wait, it isn't cross platform? What was SOE thinking? That's horrible. FFXI works just fine across 3 platforms, all playing on the same servers, so they know it can be done relatively painlessly.
In progress.

It was initially the plan to do cross platform but mid way or earlier into beta they decided against it. The last thing I ever read about it was that they were able to do cross platform easy enough and even had it set up in their offices but that the last I heard of it. I'm pretty sure this all has to do with money and updates for the game since PC versions of the game can be updated as soon as possible while PS3 might need to get an OK first.

Have put about 4-5hrs on it over the last two days. I think it's really fun. The best thing I can compare it to is like an Ultimate Alliance type of beat 'em up. The action is very fast and you gain skills as you level up.

I like this type of play far better than Champions Online. IMO

I will say that the UI interface is pretty bad, especially the chat system. Seems like it was ported over from the console. Hopefully it's fixed with a patch.

Honestly, I don't see the problems people have with a subscription fee. I mean, if you have any kind of job, you should be able to sustain this, easily. Hell, I sustained 4 years of WoW from the age of 12 by using my allowance, and I always had cash to spare for other stuff.

Keep in mind, you're not paying for any game here. You're paying for an experience that will last way, WAY longer than your average game (if done right). You're not finished after 20 hours play, you're not even finished after a 100 if the MMO's any good.

Any reviews out for this yet, either official or by someone actually playing it?

Probably just wait for Kotor to come out but this looks alright but seems weird.

I avoid any sort of monthly fee because it adds up quickly. You kind of have to decide if the game is worth $15 EVERY month; no doubt over some time it may get a little bit tiring, and at that point they automatically delete your save games.
I mean, just at a fee of $10 a month, you're paying $120 each year. Now that I'm a PC gamer, and spend about $10 to $30 on an individual game, that's a whole lot to pay for just one experience.

Well, they don't remove your characters if you don't pay. Usually, if they even do this, there's a wait of at least a year on this. Second, look at what the average hourly wage is. If you spend 2 full hours working for that amount, it'd surprise me.
