20 minutes? I've gotten a lot of errors after a couple of hours. I once got bluescreen after running prime for 4 hours.

Better safe than sorry? Seems like you guys all say different things.

well, i am run stock settings because i have a bad chip..

After every change, I run small FFT for 60-70 mins, then large FFT 50-60min

When you have reached you desired speed, I say do 8+ hours.

And 8+ is how long? What if you do get an error after 13 hours, is the OC fail then?

I got an error after like 12 hours of prime, lol.
One of my cores failed.
I was never able to get it to fail again though so I just left it at 3.5ghz.

Just run it as long as you feel comfortable/overnight for a couple of days.

IMHO, 12hrs is fine. I have never gotten any errors with any of my pcs after about 9hrs, if it makes it past that, then your good, so go another few hrs and you know your safe to keep pushing.

I dont even bother to stress test anymore.

I just set the voltage to what I think it should be, set the RAM accordingly, check the FSB to RAM ratio, and see what happens.

I dont recommend you do that however lol, I say 8-12hours if you want to be sure.

Hmm... I always thought you needed to do 24 hours of Prime on blend for stability. Highest I could go with temps on my processor was 3.8ghz but I got errors after 16 hours. 3.7 I got errors after 22 hours. 3.6 24 hours stable. Do you think I can just run 3.8ghz all the time? I do not fold and I only leave my computer on during the day cause it is in my room and the blue LEDs from my Antec 900 mess with my sleep cycle so I turn it off every night.

I tested my OC for 12h in each P95 test error free year ago..

Never had an BSOD or issue of any kind with it ever since..

So your 3.8GHz (16h P95 stable) is a ROCK SOLID OC in my book..

CHEERS..

why the heck i would care whether it will run 8 hours or not

i am generally using my cpu over 80% load and it hits 100% sometimes

if it never fails me it is stable for me .)

those softwares are for just quick tests

So you run:
12 hours blend
12 hours small ftt
12 hours large ftt ?

I rarely turn off my computer, but i also rarely use anything near 100% cpu. Just when I do video stuff..
