Joe, thanks so much for this. I took some of your principles and applied them to my situation. I didn't have any lamps, so instead I used the sunlight coming out of my window!!!!!! Here's the difference (Btw, pics are with my phone):

Coming along, but still a little shaky. I know camera phones don't mount to tripods (without mods, lol), so try to hold it steady against something. The slightest movements when taking darker shots will fuzz the image.

Also, watch the reflections on that super shiny heat sink, try to get in a spot where it doesn't reflect straight at the camera.

For the longest time I've given up on holding still, but now that you mention holding it against something, I'll give that a try and see how that works out. And as for that heatsink, I surely tried to make it to where the light wouldn't reflect directly towards the camera, but I wasn't too successful in that, although I think I did a better job in the second shot. You can definitely see the finger prints on it though, lol. I've got to clean that up some time.

^Cool shot, but it benefit from the rule of thirds. Dead center subjects are typically dull, however good job on the light and angle. A little dark, but cool too.

I'm not sure about that particular model, but if it has a program mode where you can adjust some settings, get your ISO as low as it can. That will help the grain.

Here's a preview from the full guide. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting on my second 5770 and 200mm top fan.
