Oh yeah I got my 950 and I was cringing putting that into an E770.

Definitely feels like you're going to break something but so long as the notches on the side of the socket and CPU match up you should be good to go.

Chiming in, I had the EXACT same fears with an i5 2500K on a P8P67. Having known myself to use too much force before, that creaking sound was terrifying. I eventually manned up and just did it and the machine's up and running just fine.
