Proper way to format a SSD and a pair of RAID 0 F3 HDD

Thread Starter
Hi everyone,
I just want to ask for a proper way to re-format my SSD and my pair of RAID 0 F3 samsung HDD.
The SSD drive is in my sig rig.
So do i need to change anything in BIOS before i actually pop in my Win 7 disc and do a re-format there ?

Right now i'm in RAID mode, do i have to change back to IDE mode before i format it ? and do i have to delete the RAID volume first ?

Thanks

just don't do a complete format. only do a quick format.

if you do this within the windows 7 installer it will do a quick format.

Thanks for the quick reply Kiwiasian
So if you can just elaborate the down side of complete format i'll be really appreciate it

Also , i do have to change it back to IDE mode right ? and do i have to delete the raid volume ?

Thanks

i don't think you have to remove RAID 0 of your current samsung HDD's...
In order to use SSD good, i think recommended mode is AHCI in order to get good speeds. Since RAID is also good for speed.... you can use it...

I was told SSD's are not be full formatted. If you use windows 7 format mode while installing OS is good. it will do only Quick format.. which is good for SSD..
Don't FULL FORMAT the SSD with any third party or windows TOOLS....

What about when you initialize your RAID set-up (CTRL+F) in the POST? "Secure Erase"
Does it know its a SSD when it formats it?

RAID is AHCI. Leave it in RAID. Unplug the RAID drives.
I would do a secure erase of the SSD. Install Windows onto the SSD. Then plug the RAID array back in.
