Seasonic SS-850HT or Antec TPQ-850

Thread Starter
I don't think my Antec Truepower II 550w is going to cut it for this upgrade. Especially if I end up getting a GTX560. I'm trying to choose between these two.

I'm strongly leaning towards the Seasonic. I don't care about modular stuff or fancy finishes. I only care what's inside, which on the Seasonic is something quite fantastic, add to that the Seasonic is $30 cheaper.

Is there any reason why I should pick the Antec over Seasonic?

You're right, there's no reason you should pick the TPQ-850 over the SS-850HT, the latter is superior.
But 850W, really? What makes you think you need that much power?

I intend to keep this power supply at minimum 5 years. The Antec lasted me through 3 cpu upgrades but going to http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine and plugging in what I have shows once I upgrade my video card I'm going to be slightly over 550watts.

I'm figuring an 850w will give me overhead for a few years and there isn't a huge price difference between 750s and 850s.

Fair enough then

Well I don't know what you are planning to upgrade to but even if you do...I doubt you'll need over 700W ever.

But if you need 850W, the Seasonic is a good choice. Hell both of them are a good choice, but the Seasonic is the OEM version and thus will be cheaper.
