they probably started developing it before the dx11 version was out?
and it probably recommends 7 because 64 bit utilizes quadcores and more ram?

this is just me being optimistic.

Crysis was definitely a poorly made game. Metro 2033 just needs power to run with high settings.
Crysis had a hiccup during the final boss fight. That's about it for me. Play that tanker level in DX9 and it works just fine. DX10 is the main cause of issues in Crysis and it is barely utilized anyway. Just set the graphics settings to very high in DX9 through the .ini files. Game looks just as good and plays a lot better. Frames should increase as well.

The last several years we've seen the hardware get so good that software (games) are lagging behind. Back when 3d was becoming the big thing in the late 90's and early 2000's you needed a decent setup to get playable frame rates.
There were cases too where in order to enjoy 3d games you had to have a 3dfx voodo card or an expensive sound card like a Roland SC that made a huge difference. Only few people could afford these and the latter only if you were taking music seriously.
Consoles had their great games, pcs theirs and everyone was happy. No need to go into one others turf.

Yes, now with the state of hardware game developers can do wonders and games that are made exclusively for the pc have high quality and are very playable at even lower requirements than those ports.

Because consoles only support DX.9 from what I know.

Sucks how these games are made on PC's yet the PC version tends to be the worse performing. Or is filtered with DRM.

Devs won't push anything graphically for another 5 years (not that they can't make improvements given what they have, of course). DirectX 9 will live 10-11 years and there's nothing to be done about it because it's just "PC Gamers whining" about their "entitled" graphics. Consoles cannot support DX10 and DX11 because their video cards are stuck 3-4 years in the past, and Microsoft and Sony don't plan on releasing another console for up to 5 years from now.

Meanwhile Devs and their Publishers aren't interested in spending thousands or millions of dollars to bolster graphics for the PC Gaming market they treat as a neglected step-child. So we won't have great options for PCs able to handle it and scaled down graphics so Consoles can have it (for porting purposes) as the standard. We might get lucky enough for one or two to do it because they can and they expect PC Gamers will eat that marketing point up.

i recently(3 months ago upgraded my pc so that i could play crysis 2 at 1280x1024 with all its eye candy on....then i came to know its gonna be a port(more likely)
and i did
seriously otherwise my old 9600gt and a dual core were already running most of the game s at good quality at 1280x1024......
i feel like a total idiot now.......and on top of that ea forwarded the release date of crysis from dec 2010 to mar 2011......if i would have known this i would have waited for sandy bridge or bulldozer......damn these ports....

Just because a game is on a console does not make it a "console port" as EVERYONE here complains about. If you read the multiple threads about multiple different games, most of the newer games coming out (Crysis 2, BF 3, etc) are being made for the PC market FIRST.

Making the "console port" what it actually means, a game that was originally on PC and the ported to consoles. Yes, I realize that this game is going to be a "PC port" (as it should be called, a game made for consoles that is on the PC is a PC port), but really people need to stop complaining about it.

It's all about the money, and of course, with the trends of today, companies are going to make way more money if they can extend there software to as many platforms as possible.

The era of true "PC Games" is over, and everyone needs to realize this, and stop complaining about "Bad Console Ports". I'm tired of hearing people say that the graphics are dumbed down because of consoles, because while it is true, it has been like this ever since the consoles have taken over. Get used to it....

And seriously, your complaining that the game uses DX9 (not the quoted, just in general). It looks great how it is. DX9 still has some power left in it's years, even though I admit it's close to dying.
