[PCA]UltraViolet: will this convince pirates to stop pirating? - Page 5

restrictive DRM. i liked it better when you bought the disk and didn't have legal online copies. now you buy the disk and get free (BUT RESTRICTED) online copies. pirates are going to tear this restrictive piece of crap apart.

So it would be like Netflix with a digital download? Not stop piracy with just that.

If it costs money, no, it will not stop piracy. You simply cannot compete with the ease of access that piracy offers. These new market strategies just change how they "annoy" the would-be pirate, be it advertisements or a cost of admission.

To them, if they're going to pay for access, a file sharing service like Rapidshare is much more appealing. They pay $10 per month for unlimited access to basically anything they want. It'll essentially pay for itself with one use per month. I doubt they would be compelled to pay that same amount (or more) for a service like Netflix and only get access to a limited number of movies at one time.

DRM-free 1080p movies in .mkv or .mp4 would be enticing. I doubt it will turn out so awesome though.
