voltage limits on 2600k - which to look at?

Which voltage are you supposed to watch to make sure it doesn't go over whatever limit you believe in?

- What you set in the bios?
- What CPUz reports?

There is a pretty big difference for me (1.36 bios, 1.32 CPUz).

bios. cpuz is what its actually using at that time.

I say CPU-Z.

Because at load, on my board, on my AMD chip, at 1.575 it will use like 1.58something like almost 1.59 so that's more 1.59 than 1.575.

If at load, CPU-Z is higher, use that, else use BIOS

its called vdrop and vdroop. There is a feature called Load Line Calibration or Vdroop control that will stabilize voltage. CPUz and HWmontiro will always show same voltage, as they are made by the same people, and work together.

Vdrop is the difference between what you set in BIOS and what is actaully supplied to the CPU, vdroop is the difference between idle and load voltage. So you set 1.35v in bios and get 1.33v at idle because of vdrop, and then you get 1.30v at load becuase of vdroop.

Yeah, but thinking about this has my little brain confused.

it sounds like you look at CPUz at idle since that is the max voltage going to the cpu?

But then doesn't the voltage also drop during idle due to some other settings?

So now it seems like it is CPU at load that has the max voltage to the CPU?
