Is it safe/harmful to the motherboard to have a fan y-split cable so you can have more than one fan running on the same plug on the MOBO??

You have to look up the specifications in your motherboard manual and on the fans you plan on using, because every fan and board can be differnt as far as power conumption goes...!

If your fans dont draw alot of amps, its perfectly fine, ive done it, and my bro is doing it with 2 120's on his radiator.

You will not be able to monitor the rpms properly though and it may affect RPM throttling in the bios if you have an ai feature set in the bios as I see you are using an asus board..

ok so I have 7 fans in my case....4 of which are direct connect on the MOBO and the other 3 on on the power supply. all 7 fans are the same one 120mm and the specs are as follow:

-current=.35A
-input=4.2W

now my MOBO states this:

-a total of 1A~7A (84 W max)

So would i then just take and multiply the amps by 7. Sounds stupid I know sorry just want to double check.

Safe. 3 pin fans usually don't use mega amounts of power. That is unless you use dodgy, cheap ones. You should be fine using the splitter.
