[GIZ] Winter-Cooled PCs: The Latest in Overclocking Technology

The setup is more or less a dryer exhaust working in reverse. The sub-zero outside air is sucked in through a filtered inlet attached to a window insert. On the other side of that insert it's then run through dryer duct into the PC where it keeps the machine running at suitable temperatures. The "spec" also calls for a damper to be installed somewhere, but the guys at Hack A Day aren't quite sure where the creator implemented it (they recommend a servo-controlled damper).

Mods, I'm sorry if this in the wrong section. I didn't know whether to put it here or in Tech & Science.

Not bad, a few fellow OC'ers have experimented with this(and might be doing it right now). The big thing is to watch out for condensation that could fry your computer.

$200 bucks for this idea. Not ideal for apartments or town homes, but for suburbia and country, man...that'd be awesome! Perhaps even build the computer into the house, create a custom linux for the os and you have the early blueprints for computerized homes. MMMM the future.

condensation happens when warm air blows over cold things, not when cold air blows over hot things

Also, in sub-zero temperatures, there's no moisture in the air at all (it's all frozen solid). So even if you had something colder than the air, there would still be no condensation.

My meteorology is screaming right now from reading that.
