Possible Upgrade?

Hey guys, I would like some insight on a possible upgrade to my system. Here is what I have now and I would really like some options on what I could/should upgrade.

MOBO: ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W

RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)

Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN1-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower

GPU: EVGA 896-P3-1267-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition 896MB 448-bit GDDR3

I built this computer around thanksgiving 08 and play games fairly often. I recently got Battlefield Bad Company 2 and on high settings at 1280x1024 I was getting around 30 FPS. I have since turned down the settings to medium and get 40-50 FPS currently.

If there is no budget then go SB with SLI GTX 580's and 8GB of DDR3 2000 memory LOL That's a butt load of money so how much would you like to spend?

Well I'd like to know what my largest bottleneck is at the moment. If I do upgrade what parts of my current setup could be reused? If this were your system how would you upgrade it? I'd prefer to spend less than 1500 if possible.

For less than $1500 you could create a MONSTER rig these days

To answer your question your biggest bottlenecks atm are your monitor resolution, a CPU that is not overclocked and is only a dual core, and a gpu that could use an upgrade.

Just upgrading those and adding a cooling solution to help your OC's would be cheap and easy.

But if you have a $1500 budget I would suggest putting together a Sandy Bridge build.

Now the question then becomes - what are your main uses of the rig? Folding? Gaming? Just office use? This can help to provide the best choice budget wise unless you are just looking for raw horsepower.

Also go to this link and put your system information into it so you won't have to repost it as it will then show up in your signature on every post. http://www.overclock.net/specs.php

A good upgrade that would be on the lower side of budget would be

Q9550 or Q9650
GTX 470
Monitor that supports 1900x1080 or 1920x1200

This upgrade would be able to keep your build going for another couple of years depending if you get the bug to do a full system overhaul and jump to a different socket.

That is just over $1,100 in case you need anything else but that will be a huge upgrade for you. Yes you can go a little less or a little more but this will give you an idea of what you can get for $1,500.
