increasing the memory clock will also give you a performance increase. raising the mem clock might make it necessary to lower your core clock 10mhz or so because it might become unstable trying to run the core and mem. what i usually do is find my absolute max core (which you seem to have done) and then the absolute max for the memory (same method as the core OC. revert core clock to stock and keep pushing the mem clock till its unstable and then back up a bit. you can then play with the shaders, etc. or just leave them linked to the memory, ive done this just for simplicity, but if your shaders arent stable while running linked to your mem clock, then you might have to unlink them and back the shader clock down a few mhz) then find a compromise between these. usually if you set both at max, the card wont be stable, but then you can back both clocks down a bit and they will both be stable.

good luck.

Thanks IC. Will play around with it tomorrow. not sure how much performance gains i'll see out of it though. call me a half-assed overclocker hehe

I would say run OCCT with a shader complexity of 4 (4 produces more errors on Fermi than 8) and see if there are any errors. Kombustor's flaw is in that its hard to see the artifacts because of the moving image and the fact that it doesn't have a built in error checker.

ATi tool has an error checker also but ive caught errors with my eye that the error checker missed or overlooked.

i think if you run kombuster or furmark and just diligently scan for errors you should be fine, along with ~30mins of gameplay.

Hey I don't mean to thread jack or anything but I am sort of in the same boat you are. I am trying to max my GTX 470 OC and currently have ran FurMark @ 1920x1200 8x for 60 min with 870/1740 and 1600 mem @ 1.075mV. High temp was 74C.

I am wondering how much farther i should try to go and if FurMark is a solid method of testing stability? I will try to run Heaven and see what happens at these clocks.

EDIT- Also I have noticed that sometimes while running FurMark my FPS will drop to 1 and when I look at MSI AB the GPU Usage plummets to 0-30%. It only happened every once in a while and it doesn't freeze my machine or last for more than a few seconds. Is this normal?

I can tell if my clocks are too high in 3D11 in the very first test.. Artifacts will show up, or they won't. For my 480s, 800/1600 and 1000 on the memory is it. Mine artifact if I even go up to 825, so 800 it is.

30 minute run max. After 30 minutes, if you don't get any kind of artifacts your stable

Thanks guys, how important is the memory Clock in all of this? What should I shoot for on that assuming 870/1740 is the highest I can go stably?
