Well since i am on literally the tip of the blade here on deciding on whether to go ahead and order or not, i thought i might consult you fine folks here on whether or not this is a good build or not (changes need etc etc)

Case: NZXT Phantom Full Tower, Black - 159.99
MotherBoard: Asus Rampage III Extreme - 399.99
CPU: Intel Core i7 980x Extreme Edition - 1,199.99
RAM: 2 x Corsair Dominator 6GB DDR3 1600 - 579.98
GPU: 2 x HIS Radeon HD 5970 - 1,319.98
HDD: 3 x Western Digital 1TB Caviar Black 7200rpm - 299.97
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master V8 CPU Cooler - 79.99
PSU: Corsair Professional Series Gold AX 1200W - 289.99

Total: 4,329.98

What do you guys think? this has been revised and is actually $1,000.00 cheaper cheers.gif

looks good since your budget is so high why not get SD drive ?
you could save money getting I7 2600K cpu instead maybe go with Nvidia card dual sli 580 gtx.

I have to agree. Dump the Intel Core i7 980x Extreme Edition. Get a 2600K for 1/3 the price.Dump the 3 x Western Digital 1TB Caviar Black 7200rpm. You could get a 128 gb SSD & 2 x 2 TB WD blacks for 300 for the pair.. eBay or used. This price could be cut back 1/2

Agreed 2600k, maximus iv-e, 2xgtx580 and a c300. Although you could wait 3-6 months and get much better ssd's when the new ones come out. No reason to buy a 980x right now unless you know you are thread limited (in which case an sr-2 build would be better), or require between 16 and 24 GB of ram (like me)

I would also suggest faster memory e.g. 2000+

If your budget is higher still go tri sli 580s and a physx card although I'm not sure how many of the SB mobo's would support this, most are scarce on slots.

Once you have all that heat though you may want to start water cooling, in which case I'd recommend the 800d case over the phantom. I still think the raven 02 case is better for air than the phantom, but the phantom does look cooler.

Thanks for the advice guys, appreciate it.

The reason i choose the 980 x is because i share a dorm with 3 other people and one of them is taking cinema, so he is always making short movies and rendering them, which uses processor power. I got 12 gb of ram because my other room mates uses photoshop, which is a huge memory hog so the extra memory is worth it. And no offense, but i will never buy Nvidia, ever. had to many bad experience with them frown.gif

Good luck anyway, remember to take pics. As for nvidia, it's funny because I've had problems with everyone else haha.
