Weirdest Issue Ever - Page 3

Another reason why many enterprises are still using Windows XP is because their computers can't really run Windows Vista very well. There are a lot of P4-era computers with 512MB of RAM or less still in service, although I predict they'll be mostly gone in another 5 years.

I personally think that Windows 7 will be the next Windows XP. It's already taken on very well, and there's a good chance folks will still be using it in 10 years.

But vista doesn't suck. it's quite nice actually.
And I still call bs on win xp running on a 90mhz cpu with 64mb of ram.

I'll just say that it's not as bad as Windows 98.

I didn't say it sucked...tongue.gif

But come on, not like businesses are running anything THAT intensive to still have P4's and 512Mb. I guarantee Windows 7 will run on that. Not GREAT, but worlds better then XP.

Sure, Vista will run fine if you're using some top-of-the-line computer. But Windows XP blows it out of the water perfomance-wise. There's really no reason to use Windows Vista unless it was forced upon you by computer manufacturers. I can run Windows XP pretty well off a computer with a 90Mhz Pentium and 64MB of RAM. Windows Vista though? That never ran well even on a machine with 1GB of RAM!

Windows 7 is like a "service pack" to Vista. It may be based off it, but doesn't nearly have all the crap running. People complained about Vista being a buggy, slow piece of garbage, so Microsoft created Windows 7 and focused on improving performance. I can run Windows 7 perfectly well off a 933Mhz PIII with 384MB of RAM. But Windows Vista? Forget it!

Overall, Windows Vista is stupid. What meaningful things does it really do that make it that much better than Windows XP?

I know this is totally off-topic, but I call BS to the bolded items until you post pictures.

OP--I would kill all extraneous processes and services in msconfig or services.msc, reboot, and see if that does anything.

I agree there's no way xp will run off of that. I think he's trying to be all like xp is awesome vista sucks so i'll make stuff up to prove my point.

iv seen xp run on a 486 @66 with 32m
wasnt pretty, but did the job

7 can run alright on a 1ghz machine with 512m of ram
multitasking will be a chore tho

underclock your cpu and set /maxmem to find out how it is

Been there, done both. Not impossible.
