Stop feeding that windows troll?

OP, windows based live cd to see if it still is there. Just to rule out HW.
I had issue with flash in IE7, would start lagging as hell, slow mouse movement etc.

I don't know why anyone would defend Vista. It's one of the worst rated operating systems Microsoft has ever released.

Did you fix your Keyboard, OP?

win 3.11 on the core 2 duo would be awesome (even though it could only use one core)
2k or nt4 would be more suited for a dual core cpu tho

you could rock with ie3.5/4 and browse the web like a maniac

It would probably crash. And older IE versions weren't limited in speed by the CPU, they became limited by the software capabilities, IIRC.

And Vista isn't the worst, I think ME was.

I browse the web in Windows 3.1 all the time. It's not the greatest, but not all that bad running off MSIE5.

You could probably make a good 3.1 machine with a Core 2 Duo, but you'd have to use older add-on cards for the video, sound, etc.

ME was an awful OS, but then again, the only decent version of Windows 9x was Windows 95. With Vista being considered a version of Windows NT, I would have to say they belong in separate categories. So overall, ME was the worst version of Windows 9x, and Vista was the worst version of Windows NT.

Windows 98 SE isn't too bad. It's probably tied with 95.

98SE still sucks by my experience. It would constantly bluescreen on a fresh install when trying to install drivers. Needless to say, it pissed me off. I prefer Windows 95 to 98 or 98SE.

Yeah, drivers have always been the pitfall of Windows 98. But once you get it running, it runs great.
