Samsung 2232BW brightness games?

Thread Starter
Ive recently got my 2232BW working again after it stopped working (blown capacitor on power board) and have noticed in some games the brightness or contrast changes like HDR does in games but its the monitor changing not the ingame settings.

For example I was will be playing Red Orchestra and when im in a dark room the monitor does dark and when I step outside into better light it brightenes up alot, at first I thought it was because of my game settings but I do not have bloom or any lighting settings enable in game plus sometimes I notice the brightness change when im on desktop.

Any help would be welcome, thanx AAA.

So the problem is that it gets lighter and darker according to the environment you're in in game?

Press the left-most button under the monitor and disable "dynamic contrast control"

If you play around with the settings you can figure it all out, there's no need to get a manual really. It's definitely due to the dynamic contrast controls - the monitor tries to make the screen brighter under darker situations and vice versa.

I always turn any form of automated contrast/brightness control off and tailor it to my likings by modifying the brightness and contrast separately using the sliders. It's the best way to get the monitor looking exactly how you want it to look.

It's not worth downloading a manual for. The only reason they include dynamic contrast is so that they can claim 10,000:1 contrast ratio. Which is bullcrap.

TY very much guys as I say I bought the monitor about 10/11 months ago to replace an old 17 inch Dell lcd and I only had the Samsung working for about 2 months before it stopped turning on, I didn't really mess about with the settings until I put it all back together yesterday and fired it up.

I didn't even know that the 2nd and 3rd buttons from the left had seperate menus, ive set it to the game setting will that be alright?

***Just tried it ingame and no longer does the contrast change when im in different lightening TYTYTY .***
