This is what I'm trying to say. Android is way less polished than WP7 or iPhone - Page 2

I have Gingerbread (2.3) on my HD2 and it is certainly as fluid as what you're trying to point out. Of course, I have it just slightly overclocked to 1.2GHz so that may be filling the gap between liquid fluid and slightly choppy. I'd like to mention, though, that the Nexus S is blazingly fast and it does have hardware acceleration. Some friends that are EVO owners drop their jaws when they see my phone outperforming theirs both visually and in benchmarks like Quadrant. I'm anti-Apple, once owned an iPhone 3GS and hated it, so I'm not quite biased for Android as I gave iOS its chance. I like my OS to be able to be broken down into bits and customize it the way I want! On a side note, the Android market has now come a very long way and no longer can one say that the iOS market is better. Once 2.0 hit, development for Android apps took a huge leap.

Wow, so Android actually implements HW acceleration, at least for the Nexus S. Hope it will be available in other phones.

Android users know that; we also know that the polish is coming. Currently we value usability over fancy animations. Because using that usability, the people who do really care are hacking away at their phone and getting more polished UIs, until Google officially does something about it.

PS The guy Android in the video is running a different Gallery app than the stock Android gallery app (which I find far superior). When he goes to the pictures, you have no idea what resolution both pictures are taken at, so you can't even make a fair comparison.

I also don't appear to suffer any of those issues running a much older phone.

Google will never do anything about the UI, so if you are hoping that they will eventually prevent people from skinning Android, that won't ever happen.

Which sucks in my opinion.

Well, at least we have 3rd-party devs who do spew out nice vanilla Android builds. Blur-, Sense-, TouchWiz-free ROMs are usually the ones that offer smoother user experiences.

My issue is we shouldn't need to have to resort to that to run stock.

Yes Android isnt as flashy but I will sacrifice that for open source. I refuse to have a product that has some kind of monopoly on what I put on it. Other may be more polished but its only hiding the things they lack.

You shouldn't have to sacrifice. I think that's the point. Google should come up with a more efficient and aesthetically pleasing GUI. Something that can wow people, because tbh, stock Android and most ROM's are pretty dull and clunky looking.

I <3 my Android OS. You honestly can't compare the iPhone to "Android" because the iPhone is both hardware and software.

The iPhone may look prettier, however I'm more for customization/functionality and the Android OS excels in those aspects.

Besides, Google > Microsoft > Steve Jobs.

EDIT Android 3.0 aka Honeycomb:
