Rate my Final HAF X/AMD Build

Thread Starter
After having received positive reviews from an earlier thread on here, I decided to post my final version, tell me what you think.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 6 Core Processor 3.2GHZ Socket AM3

MOBO: ASUS Crosshair IV Formula AM3 DDR3 ATX AMD 890FX 4PCI-E16 2PCI CrossFireX 6 SATA 6GB/S

Memory:Mushkin Enhanced Blackline Frostbyte 8GB 2X4GB PC3-12800 DDR3-1600 C9-9-9-24 Dual Channel Memory

G.SKILL F3-12800CL7D-8GBRH Ripjaws PC3-12800 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL7-8-7-24 1.6V Memory Kit

PSU: Corsair Professional HX750W 750W ATX 12V 62A 24PIN ATX Modular Power Supply Active PFC 140MM fan

GPU:
XFX Radeon HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E 2XDVI HDMI 2x Mini DisplayPort Video Card

HDDs:
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA3 6GB/S 7200RPM 64MB Cache 3.5IN Dual Proc Hard Drive

Chassis:Coolermaster Haf X EATX Tower Case Black 6X5.25 5X3.5INT No PS Front USB3.0

Disc Drive: LG CH10LS20 Bluray Reader & DVD Writer Combo Drive 10X BD-ROM 16X DVD-RW Lightscribe SATA Retail Box

Extra:

Cooling:
Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus Direct Touch 4 Heatpipe Heatsink AM2 AM3 LGA1366 LGA775 LGA1156 120MM

Lights: Logisys CLK12RD2 Dual Red Cold Cathode Kit 12IN 3.0MM x 2

Fans: Coolermaster Megaflow 200MM Red LED Case Fan 700RPM for HAF932 922 Cosmos S Atcs 840 Storm Sniper x 2

No fan controller.

Audio: ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Channel PCI-E Sound Card 24BIT Dolby Digital 116DB SNR W/ Low Profile Bracket

OS: Windows Home 7 Premium 64-Bit

The whole build will cost me $1904.75 CAD, this includes Price Match, S&H, S&H insurance, taxes. Some users have recommended that, for this price, I go intel, but a similar intel build, in terms of performance, greatly outpriced $1900. I also really like that I'm getting 2gb on the GPU for only about $300.

I decided against the fan controller as it seems to be a wiring nightmare. It definitely would be nice to control fan speed and have control over temperatures inside the case.

Also, the MOBO says it has support for thermal sensors, however, I could not find any for sale on NCIX; are sensors integrated into some components (GPU, RAM, etc....)? How would I monitor temps on the CPU, GPU/others?

Thank you very much for your time.

Well I could put pictures, but I haven't even ordered yet. This is just my final build that I'll be ordering in two weeks. Sorry about the confusion.

Edit: If it interests anyone, I have found a HAF X build with most of the components same as mine. Few differences, especially in fan and lighting as wlel as GPU, but overall similar. I hope to match his cable cleanliness.

I don't know if I'll get the Scythe or not, seems like a cool feature.

You might want to try the XFX 750W Black Edition, also modular and cheaper than the HX750W, and as good in my opinion. It's Seasonic-built.

Samsung F3 1TB is available for $51.48 shipped on Superbiiz, it should be better or equal to WD Caviar Black 1TB for a much lower price.

Be sure you're getting the Hyper 212+ on Buy.com for $28 shipped, on Newegg due to shipping costs it is a blatant ripoff more than anything.

your CPU+Mobo - price : 459.98$
i7-2600 CPU+Mobo - price : 484.98$

Thanks for the tips. One of my concerns with MBUs that support intel CPUs is future compatibility. I'd like my system to be upgradeable some time in the near future, especially when ivy bridge/bulldozer comes out. I'm in the position where I would definitely like to wait for Bulldozer, but sadly, cannot as the winter semester begins next week and I really don't have a PC right now( I'm on my GF's PC).

After much thought and many suggestions, I've changed my 1090T to i7-2600K and Asus P8P67, with 8GB g.skill ddr3 7-8-7-24, Corsair Pro HX850W, XFX 6950 2GB, and CM 212+ to replace default heatsink.

Thanks a lot for the help.

This build is the same price as my AMD build except I get a better PSU as well.
