[TechnoBuffalo] Verizon’s New Upgrade Policy

Last week, just as CES (Consumer Electronics Show) was revving up, Verizon announced their new upgrade policy, and don’t think the timing was a simple coincidence. With the tech world focusing on the largest electronics trade show in the world, and the anticipation of the Verizon iPhone announcement, this little detail seemed to be slipped under the door. The new policy will go into effect on Jan. 16, just a few weeks before the Verizon iPhone is released.
A little something for you Verizon Wireless customers.

I've never liked Verizon, my past two phones broke all the time, I usually have 2 bars of service (where my AT&T friends have 4), and they charge me tons of money for pointless things... rrrrg. as soon as my two years is up... iPhone time

I don't upgrade often, so this doesn't affect me that much, but I can see a lot of rage spawn from this.

Hmmm...I don't get it...Sounded like they were getting rid of their new every 2 plan but at the bottom it sounded like they were just changing it to what it already was....
Quote:
Verizon customers will now be eligible for promotional pricing after twenty months on two year sentences – I mean “contracts” – as opposed to twelve, and ten months on a one year contract. Oh, and by the way, the $100 credit that was included in the NE2 program is going bye-bye also so promo pricing will be the only benefit here.
so...all we lost was some $100 credit? Which sucks but I am sure I can work something out anyway.

Someone do an easy:

It was this -
and now it is this -

Epic fail Verizon, screw over all existing customers just so you can carry the iPhone? Anyone thinking of jumping ship to VZ might want to wait it out a few months to see if any other crap pops up along the way.

no you can still use your new every 2 after the deadline. if you could use it today though, you would still have an extra new every 2 since you upgraded before the deadline.

So instead of allowing early upgrades, people can only get a new subsidized phone after 20 months? Kind of sucks, but oh well.
