ASRock 4coredual-vsta and QX6700

I got this board and this processor to bench some old agp cards I had laying around, and I'm trying to overclock on it. I know it's not a great overclocker: no vcore adjustments, and this particular board caps at 290fsb. (yeah, I know... yuck)

Getting to the point here,
I got the extreme processor for the unlocked multiplier, since this board has the low fsb wall, thinking that I could take it a bit further with the unlocked multi, and possibly vmod it later. Default multiplier is 10x266=2.66ghz. I have a custom bios 2.39b which fixed the ram limitations and enabled ability to turn of speedstep and adjust the multiplier. However, when I go into the bios, set the multiplier to 11, save and restart, it goes back to 10.

Anybody else with this board have this problem?

I never got a reply, so here's what I found out:

To change the multiplier on this board, you have to turn the overclock settings in the bios to "auto" then change the multiplier, save and restart. The changed multiplier will be available, and you can change the overclocking settings by fsb again and the saved multiplier will work fine.

Any chance you could share that custom bios? Does it allow more than 2GB RAM?

Bloody hell, that was fast. Thanks very much, I'll be upgrading to a QX6700 soon too but this board isn't very good for overclocking as you know. Will send that PM now, just send it whenever you're ready. Thanks.

EDIT: Can't find out how to PM you. According to another thread on here I hould PM a moderator and ask them to forward it but I can't find out how to PM them either.

Found it, for others who may be looking for it as well. Enjoy!

Others on XS have noted that there have been issues where some people reported the agp slot not working. I didn't have this problem.
