Bottle bottle neck :(

Thread Starter
My Current Rig has A C2D E7200 @ 2.53 @ 4 gigs ram with Intel Mobo And A Evga GTX 460 SC 1gb

My question i tht is my CPU bottlenecking the 460 ? Coz jst cant get any more fps thn 30-40 in the latest games like cod bo mohaa 2010 nfs hp etc etc ......

If so thn would upgrading to a quadcore help my fps ?

Or Is a completely new i5 setup in order ?

Thanks.

Just get a new 775 quad core is what i would do. I went from a e2200 at 3.0, to a q6600 at 3.0ghz and definetly saw a boost in fps. the e2200 had 1mb of cache, and the q6600 has 8mb also.

OP, what resolution are you gaming at? What are your other system specifications? Is this a brand pre-built, or did you build it yourself?

Also, why are you guys suggesting to buy a new CPU before overclocking that bad boy--especially now of all times (not that S775 is unusable, but it is 2 generations old...). Most of the E7xxx series CPU's did well over 3GHz, nearly 4GHz for a lot of overclocks. All you need to do is give that sucker some love and you'll see a definite boost in FPS in your games.

please go to your user CP and hit the edit system link and fill out your system specs, it will help us help you!

I agree as you see above, get a q9550, i5-750 P55, or any i7 set-up and your bottleneck will be gone.

A Q6600 is your best bet. You could easily snag one without a problem for dirt cheap.

But it'll have the same clockspeed as his current CPU--likely the limiting factor here is CPU speed, not number of cores--I'd sooner suggest going to a higher clocked dual vs. a Q6600 since he can't overclock with his motherboard.

OP, you might think about getting an E7500 (3GHz stock)--should be an easy swap and give noticeable improvement. Otherwise, if your motherboard supports 1333MHz FSB CPU's, I'd get an E8600 (3.33GHz) if you can, and if it's not too expensive--likely available ones are still fairly expensive.

Otherwise, I'd just suggest getting a new system, since you can't OC, and older gen CPU's aren't really all that cheap.
