Raid or not raid

Thread Starter
Hi,

I am currently planning on buying an SSD. An OCZ one.

The 120GB will cost me £150, and 2x 60GB will cost me ~£145.

Is raid 0 good for ssd's as they dont support trim? Is this a major disadvantage?

Should I get 1x 120gb or 2x 60gb?

thanks in advance

I know that the Crucial C300's have a rather aggressive garbage control on the firmware for the SSD's that allow them to be kept clean like trim would do, even though its in raid 0 without trim.

I would personally get 2x 60GB ones and if you decide not to raid them then you just have 2 SSD's but there's always the option if you want to.

Your read and write speeds would be through the roof. Here are mine via ATTO:

However, your random access times (which is very important for operating system quickness) will most likely stay around the same, it not slow down ever so slightly.

It's up to you. Like CookiSayWhat said, buy two and you'll just have an SSD storage drive if you don't like the RAID. It will essentially be the same thing as long as you don't fill up your boot drive all the way.

Yeah I would post a screen shot, but I'm on my lap top right now...anyways I'm using mine in Raid 0 and getting 535MB/s Read times and 141MB/s Write times in sequential.

Stupid fast.
